Explorer Week 2027

We are delighted to confirm details for our Explorer Week at the end of this academic year. Our usual timetable will be collapsed and a wide variety of activities celebrating the ‘Rodborough 5 Rs’ will be on offer for Years 7-10 between Wednesday 7th and Friday 9th July, with some trips extending into the weekend.

Year 8 Residential to Germany

Cologne, Germany

The Languages department are pleased to offer a four day inspirational trip to Cologne, Germany.  This is a great opportunity to experience  German culture and, for those studying German, an opportunity to practise the language.  The trip is open to all Year 8 students, whether studying German or not.

The trip will run from Tuesday 6th July – Friday 9th July, departing on Tuesday morning and returning to the school site on Friday evening.  The total cost of this trip will be approximately £647; however, this is subject to change until everything (including the ferry) has been booked and secured.  The price includes travel, excursions, meals, accommodation, insurance and activities.

The trip is full board and the proposed itinerary is below: 

Tuesday 6th July: depart Rodborough by coach; ferry crossing Dover to Calais; arrival at DJH Duisburg Sportpark. (Your child will need to bring a packed lunch). 

Wednesday 7th July: day trip to Cologne (town trail, visiting DOM, Lindt Chocolate Museum and German Sport and Olympic Museum), evening activity in youth hostel. 

Thursday 8th July: day trip to Phantasialand, evening activity in youth hostel.

Friday 9th July: sport activity in Sportpark, Duisburg, ferry crossing Calais to Dover, arrival at Rodborough School in the evening. 

We have 55 places available for this trip; if the trip is oversubscribed, we will allocate places by way of lottery and the remaining students will be placed on a waiting list. 

Year 9 Residential to France - 6-9 July 2027

French Alps  

The MFL department is excited to offer this 4 day trip, spending time in the French Alps: 6th-9th July.  We will travel by coach and plane. 

The total cost of this trip will be approximately £895; however, this is subject to change until everything (including the flights) has been booked and secured.

Full-board accommodation will be at a hotel in the village of Chantemerle.

  • Mini Golf
  • Mountain Biking Serre Chevalier
  • Full day Briançon with walking tour
  • Bowling
