Duke of Edinburgh

We have a very well-established Duke of Edinburgh Award programme at Rodborough and offer both the Bronze and Silver awards to students.

In year 9 we begin Bronze, which is largely completed by the end of Year 10. Students complete a thorough Training course in school, on Friday evenings, prior to completing a practice expedition, followed by a qualifying expedition. Both of these expeditions take place in the Surrey Hills - they involve one night camping and two days walking.

In year 11 students complete the Silver Award. Typically we travel to the New Forest to complete a practice expedition in October, followed by a qualifier in July - once the GCSE exams are safely out of the way.

Currently we have 120 Students working towards Bronze, and 42 working towards the Silver award.
