In-Year Admission
Thank you for your interest in transferring your child to Rodborough.
You can make an in-year application if your child needs to join Rodborough outside the normal admissions round. Rodborough is an academy and part of the Weydon Multi Academy Trust (WMAT). The Trust is the admissions authority and is responsible for setting the admission arrangements, holding waiting lists and allocating places.
Who can apply
You can apply for an in-year admission if:
- you are moving house and your child cannot continue at their current school
- your child is being educated at home and you would like them to attend a mainstream school
- your child is already at another school but you would like to transfer them
Applications can usually be made up to four weeks before the place is needed. Families of Armed Services personnel and Crown Servants relocating to the area can apply up to four months in advance. If you are seeking a school place from the start of the autumn term, applications can be made from the beginning of July.
Where to apply
Applications can be made through Surrey Admissions. If you live outside Surrey, please contact Rodborough directly. Please note that you must not withdraw your child from their current school until you have secured a place at another school.
How to apply
Applications can be made online using the In-Year Online Portal, or on paper. Details are available on the Surrey County Council website: https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/schools/admissions/in-year
If you are applying on paper, you will need to complete the CMA application form. If you would like a hard copy sent to you, please contact the LA on 0300 200 1004 and they will post one to you.
The person making the application should be the one with parental responsibility for the child. If you are unsure of your status, please submit your application with a covering letter explaining your situation.
Supporting documents
Please attach, upload or enclose two forms of proof of residency. If relevant, you should also include any professional evidence that supports an exceptional, medical or social claim, a change of address, or proof of arrival in the UK.
If you are applying under our staff criteria (2) or exceptional circumstances criteria (3), a supplementary form is also required. These are available on our website.
What happens next
Applications are processed as quickly as possible, usually within 15 school days of receiving a fully completed form. If a place is offered, you must respond within two weeks. Your offer will explain how to accept or decline the place. If you do not reply in time, the offer may be withdrawn.
Once a place has been accepted, your child will normally start as soon as possible, and no later than ten school days after acceptance. If there is a good reason for delaying, the maximum deferral is usually until the start of the next half term.
If a place is not available
If we are unable to offer a place, we will explain why and your child’s name will be added to our waiting list. Waiting lists are ranked according to our admission policy and positions may move down as well as up, depending on other applications.
Waiting lists are cleared at the end of each academic year. If you wish to remain on the list, you will need to make a new application for the following year.
You have the right to appeal if you do not receive an offer from your preferred school. Please see the appeals section on our website for details.
Additional information
All in-year applications and any offers made are shared with the Local Authority within two days.
