Iceland Trip - Tuesday 27th – Friday 30th October 2026
ICELAND TRIP: Tuesday 27th – Friday 30th October 2026
We are writing to inform you of an exciting opportunity that will be available to your child when in Year 11. The Geography department are running a trip to Iceland for Geography students in Year 11 from Tuesday 27th - Friday 30th October 2026; this is during the half-term holiday. We believe that this trip will be an experience of a lifetime and offer pupils the opportunity to see an area of the world that they may not otherwise visit.
The trip is full board and the activities will provisionally include:
- Blue Lagoon
- Thingvellir National Park
- Impressive waterfalls: Gullfoss, Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss
- Volcanoes: Hekla and Eyjafjallajokull
- Black sand beaches formed of lava
- Glaciers
Whilst in Iceland we will be accompanied by an experienced tour guide. The tour company that we will be travelling with is Rayburn Tours with whom we have run several successful trips in the past. The approximate total cost will be £1332; this price will be confirmed at a later date when the company is able to book the flights. The cost includes flights, accommodation, entry to the attractions and meals. Pupils need to provide their own spending money. Further details and an information evening will follow once the trip is confirmed.
At this stage we are seeking a formal expression of interest before asking for the first payment of a non-returnable deposit of £125 on Monday 29 September to secure the place. The balance will be payable in further instalments during late 2025 and early 2026. This is an extra-curricular visit taking place outside of school time and must be paid in full by the final payment date.
If you are interested in your son or daughter taking part in this exciting opportunity, please provide their details by completing this Google form https://forms.gle/YFa842EbYoKrLW2o7 no later than Wednesday 24 September. In the event that the visit is over-subscribed on 24 September, places will be allocated by lottery and a reserve list held. Successful applicants will be notified at this point.
If you find yourself unable to contribute due to financial hardship, please write to the Vice Principal, Mr C. Williams at the address below or email him at cwilliams@rodborough.surrey.sch.uk. The matter will be dealt with in the utmost confidence.
