Admissions for September 2026
Admissions for September 2026 into Year 7
The admissions policy for entry from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027 was determined by the WMAT Trustees on 3 February 2025 and can be found at the bottom of this page. Admission policies are reviewed annually.
Application window
Applications for secondary school must be made between 1 September and 31 October each year. Parents can name up to six preferred schools on the application form, and these are considered under an equal preference system in the order made on the application form.
Places available
Rodborough will offer 180 places for September 2026. Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) that names the school will be allocated a place before other applicants are considered. This means the number of places available will be reduced by the number of children with an EHCP naming the school.
Offer day
If you applied on time (by 31 October), you will hear from your home local authority around 2 March with the outcome of your application.
Accepting your place
- If you are a Surrey resident, you must accept or decline your offer by 16 March. If you do not respond, the offer may be withdrawn.
- If you live in another local authority area, you may not be required to formally accept the place. Please follow the instructions given by your own authority.
Late applications
If you miss the application window (1 September to 31 October), you will need to contact your home local authority to register a late request.

Welcome to Year 7 - September 2026
We are delighted to welcome your child to Rodborough this September! Choosing a secondary school is a significant decision and we are excited to be part of this important journey with you. Over the next five years, we look forward to supporting and guiding you every step of the way.
We are confident that they will feel at home in our welcoming and inclusive school community. Transitioning from primary to secondary school can be a big change, but with our excellent transition programme, we ensure that students settle in smoothly and quickly feel part of Rodborough.
Rodborough is a school that values both academic success and personal growth. We encourage all students to reach their full potential while embracing the many opportunities available to them. As a medium-sized school, we take pride in knowing and supporting each student and their family, creating a strong and supportive environment for everyone.
We look forward to seeing your child thrive at Rodborough!
We would like to invite you to the first of our parent information meetings on Monday, 9th March, at 6pm in the main hall. This will be an opportunity to hear about our plans for the new cohort and to ask any questions which you may have.
Do I need to accept/decline the place?
Our admissions are managed by Surrey County Council. As explained in their letter/email to you, you must accept or decline the school place offered by completing the Surrey reply slip and returning it to Surrey Admissions or via your eAdmissions account. The deadline for this is 16 March 2026. Once a place has been declined it will, where possible, be offered to another child and as such there is no guarantee that it will be available at a later date if you change your mind.
Do I need to fill in any forms?
Before the Easter holidays Applicaa admission forms will be emailed to all those who have accepted their place. Please complete these forms and return them by Tuesday 21st April, 2026.
Will there be an induction day?
Our induction days will take place on the 30th June and 1 July 2026; these days will be a fantastic opportunity for our new Year 7 to meet their tutors, some of their teachers and to familiarise themselves with the school’s layout. I am sure your child will have busy, enjoyable days and will feel confident about coming here in September.
During the summer term there will be a number of other opportunities for your child to visit the school and begin to get to know members of staff and to familiarise themselves with Rodborough.
On 30th June, at 6pm there will be a meeting in the Rodborough School hall, for all parents of our incoming Year 7. This will be a great opportunity to ask any questions and to meet with your child’s form tutor.
I will write to you later with more details about arrangements for the Induction Days.
Who do I contact?
Over the next 5 months we will write home regularly, ensuring you and your child have all the information needed for September. Please watch your email inbox for communications which will arrive on the following dates:
23 March – detailing an opportunity for your child to attend taster extracurricular sessions
21 April – forms providing information about transition days and also an opportunity for us to gather information about your child’s preferences
In addition the Year 7 Pastoral Team and our Admissions Team are working with your child’s primary school to ensure they have the very best start to their secondary school life here at Rodborough.
If you have any queries or matters you wish to discuss before then, please feel free to contact Mrs Rachel Chambers (Assistant Principal) at rchambers@rodborough.surrey.sch.uk.
I very much look forward to meeting and working with you and your child in the coming years.
Yours faithfully
E Hunston
Principal
