Transition
Transition Journey to Rodborough
At Rodborough, we believe that students flourish when they feel recognised, valued and supported from the very start. For many years, we have worked closely with our local primary schools to develop a well-established transition programme that helps pupils move confidently from primary to secondary school.
Through a wide range of opportunities to visit Rodborough, and by taking our staff and ‘taster lessons’ into the familiar setting of primary classrooms, pupils gain confidence not only in the new environment they are moving into, but also in the academic routines and expectations they will encounter. To support this fully, we have a dedicated Head of Year 7 and a Transition Lead, whose role is to ensure that the move from primary to secondary is a positive and enjoyable experience for every child.
We hope that these short videos will provide you with a taste of life at Rodborough.

Year 5 Masterclasses
We work in close partnership with our local primary schools to ensure that pupils in Year 5 have the chance to sample a variety of lessons at Rodborough. Children are invited via their schools to attend masterclasses on site; these sessions take place during the spring and summer terms. Our PE department also welcomes pupils - across all year groups - each term to take part in sporting activities.

Early July: usually on the evening of the first induction day: Parents’ Evening at Rodborough School.
Mid July:- We also offer small-group induction sessions by invitation for pupils who may feel particularly anxious about the move. This provides the chance to meet key staff who will continue to support them closely throughout their first year with us.
