Applications for admission to Rodborough are managed in accordance with Surrey’s coordinated scheme on Secondary admission. Applications for Secondary school must be made by 31 October of each year. Places at Surrey Secondary schools will be offered on the basis of the preferences that are shown on the application form. Parents will be asked to rank up to six preferences and these will be considered under an equal preference system.

We understand that moving to secondary school can be a challenging as well as an exciting time for our new students. We work hard to ensure that the process of moving to secondary schools is as smooth as possible.

Prior to your child joining us, our Head of Year 7 works closely with our partner primary and junior schools to ensure that transition to Rodborough is as seamless as it can be. The transition process is supported by group and individual meetings, taster days and information meetings for students and their parents. Care is taken to ensure that the tutor groups contain a mix of students from different schools and backgrounds yet allow students to feel confident that, wherever possible, they are with someone they know. To help our new students settle in quickly, we run a series of team-building activities in the summer term and during their first weeks at Rodborough in order to encourage them to make new friends.

For those moving to the area within the year, we run a buddy system for the first few days of a student’s time with us. This supports them with the change to a new school and helps establish new friendships.

Appeals resulting from in year admission applications will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.

 NB: Appeals will not start being heard until after the relevant closing date has passed.

Appeals lodged after these dates will be heard within 40 school days of the appeal deadline or 30 school days of being lodged, whichever is the later date.

Appellants will be sent notification of their appeal hearing at least 10 clear school days in advance of the hearing.  Appellants will be sent a copy of the school's case 7 clear working days in advance of the hearing.

Appellants must ensure that any further evidence not included with their initial appeal, is received by 5pm on the day preceding three clear working days prior to the appeal hearing date.  Any additional evidence or information received after this date might not be considered at the appeal hearing.
