We are writing to inform you of an exciting opportunity that will be available to st6udents in Year 9 & 10 (2024/25) next academic year. We are contacting you earlier than usual, as accommodation and activities in the region are already booking up quickly.
The History and Philosophy & Ethics (RE) departments are running a trip to Berlin from Monday 30th March – Wednesday 1sth April 2026 which is in the first week of the 2026 Easter holidays. The focus of our trip will be Berlin’s history from the rise of the Nazi Party and the Holocaust through to the end of the Cold War. We hope that the experience will help further students’ understanding of the subjects, although you do not have to have picked either subject for your options – everyone is welcome! We will be travelling to Berlin by air and using public transport. Whilst in Berlin we will be staying in an approved hostel outside in the city and will be accompanied by an experienced tour guide. The tour company that we will be travelling with is Anglia Tours, with whom we have run several successful trips in the past.
The approximate cost, depending on final numbers, will be £830 based on 30 students attending and could reduce if we have more than 35 attend. The cost includes flights, accommodation, entry to the attractions and some meals. Pupils need to provide their own spending money and they will also need a small amount to buy lunch on the first day and a meal on the 2nd evening. Further details and an information evening will follow once the trip is confirmed.
At this stage we are seeking a formal expression of interest before asking for a first payment of a non-refundable deposit of £250 to secure the place, this will be due for 4th July 2025. The balance will be payable in further instalments during late 2025 and 2026. This is an extra-curricular visit taking place outside of school time and must be paid in full by the final payment date.

In the event that the visit is over-subscribed on the 19th June, places will be allocated by lottery and a reserve list held. Successful applicants will be notified after.
