The Governing Body

Overview

The Local Governing Body has responsibility for setting and monitoring overall strategic direction, approving policy and appointing key staff members.

The Governors meet as a Full Board four times each year. All decisions reserved to the Governors are taken by the Board as a whole. Local Governing Body committees also meet between three or four times each year to consider detailed matters and recommend decisions to the Full Board.

There are currently five such committees:

• Teaching, Learning and Staffing
• Safeguarding and Student Wellbeing
• Resources, Risks and Infrastructure
• Admissions
• Policy and Strategy

In addition, the Pay Committee meets once a year to confirm pay decisions.

At the Local Governing Body Meeting on 21 September 2022, Governors agreed that Part I of their termly Local Governing Body meetings will remain open to the public as in previous years. Part II (confidential matters) will not be open to the public. Should any member of the public wish to attend Part I of a Local Governing Body meeting, they are asked to notify the Clerk in advance (psmith@rodborough.surrey.sch.uk) so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
